STOCKING STUFFING PARTY

It took several hours, but eventually an incredible array of goodies was stuffed into homemade Christmas stockings for Arizona Soldiers. Upwards of 100 volunteers, including kids, from the Veterans & Family Support (VFS) committee gathered at the Army Reserve National Guard (ARNG) Armory, on Valencia in Tucson, to prepare Christmas stockings for shipment to Arizona Soldiers who are deployed in the Middle-East. Folks from the Saddlebrook community also contributed to this event. The “stuffing’s” included almost every imaginable ‘touch of home’ item that could fit into a stocking; including home made cookies and hand-made greeting cards from Military and local school kids; and a greeting card from VFW Post-10188.

The VFS committee, which is composed of VFW, Military Family Readiness Groups and other local veteran support groups has established a new meaning to the phrase “Support Our Troops” with this event.

The VFW was well represented at this event: VFS Chair Kim Sloan with 18 Auxiliary members and 3 VFW members.
