TUCSON VETERANS IN THE CLASSROOM
Article and Pictures/Slideshow by Alan Edwards

Gary and Chrissy Harlan, District-5 and LAVFW-Department Youth-Activities Chairs’ with the assistance of John Lutzel, Red Peterson, Frank Hayes, and Geneva Malone, all members of VFW Casas Adobes Post-10188, presented a “Veterans in the Classroom” Patriotic Program to Ms. Milo’s kindergarten class and Ms. Syers 3rd grade class at Homer Davis Elementary School in Tucson on Friday November 9th. The students were shown the differences between our first flag and the one of today. Part of the program included the students being shown how to fold the flag and what each fold means. Each student was given a flag of their own to keep which they each proudly waved during the picture taking. Highlight of the event was a presentation by WWII Veteran Red Peterson about his life in the Navy, his ship and his experiences during a Kamikaze attack. This innovative and on-going program is but one of the many programs that are being carried out by Members and Auxiliary of VFW-10188 (Article and pictures courtesy of John Rice and Chrissy Harlan, VFW-10188).
