VFS JUNE-MEETING
Article & Pictures by Alan Edwards

The Veterans and Family Support (VFS) Planning Committee meets the first Monday of the month, 6:30pm, at VFW Post-10188 in Tucson. Established in January, this group can already proudly point to a number of significant accomplishments: a Blood-Drive in March; an Easter-Egg hunt in April; Mothers Day brunch and concert in May; and a ‘Dad’s-Day Project’ in June.

The VFS committee is composed of members from Military Family Readiness Groups (FRGs); VFW District-5 Members and Auxiliary; and it liaises with other local veterans support groups, such as “Operation Military Kids”. This committee is now in the process of planning future events: a baseball game on July 4th; a Patriotic Rally in the fall; and perhaps some other events.

Members of the VFW and Auxiliary who would like to volunteer some of their time and energy in support of VFS committee activities are invited to contact the Chair (and VFW Auxiliary District-5 President) Kim Sloan, or any VFW member on the committee.
