Community Based Outpatient Clinic Tucson Arizona

September 6, 2007 marks the official opening of the VAs’ newest Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) in Tucson. Quite a number of dignitaries assembled for the ceremony, including PDC and Past CinC Bob Curio; PDP Berniece Welsh and Auxiliary-549 Lucille Lombardo. VA officers specifically requested that VFW-10188 Color Guard perform ‘Posting of the Colors’ to open the ceremony. The proceedings were relatively brief, but elegant in both setting and style. After the VFW-10188 Color Guard posted the colors, VA officers offered some comments, and then everyone assembled in the foyer for a ribbon cutting. Refreshments were offered by the VA Voluntary Service program.

Known officially as the “VA Northwest Tucson Clinic”, the facility is located at the SW Corner of Ina Road and Shannon (about 2 miles east of I-10). It is open during the week by appointment only. Over 4,000 patients have already transferred from the Tucson SAVAHCS to this new ‘Northwest’ clinic, and more transfers are expected in the near future.
