BLUE STAR
MOTHERS
The
“Blue Star Mothers of America” (BSM) is composed of mothers who now
have, or have had, children serving in the military. This group
traces its beginning to early 1942 when the first chapter was
established in Flint, Michigan. Other chapters were quickly
established, and today over 30 states have active BSM chapters. In
June 1960 the organization was chartered by congress. Their National
web site is at
http://www.bluestarmothers.org.
The
Arizona chapter of the BSM is in a ‘start-up’ phase and their web
site is under construction. This group meets on the last Tuesday of
the month, 6:30 pm, at VFW Post-10188 in Tucson. Initially the
Arizona BSM is sponsoring care packages for service members deployed
overseas.
VFW
and Auxiliary members can get more particulars about this group by
contacting Ladies Auxiliary member Chrissy Harlan in Tucson.
