VA HOSPICE MEMORIAL
SERVICE
For as long as
anyone can remember, Tucson’s Post 10188 Honor Guard has assembled quarterly at
the Tucson VA Hospice Center, to provide Military Honors at their Memorial
Service which is held during February, May, August and November. The ceremony
itself is, in a word, elegant: VA Chaplain John Zinck offers some remarks with hymn
singing; then Father David
Reinders offers some remarks which are then followed by reading of
names. The service is concluded by the VFW Honor Guard providing Military Honors
with a flag ceremony and remarks by VFW Chaplain Robert DiVarco. For the most part members
of the audience were able to keep their composure during the entire proceedings
… that is, until Gary Harlan
performed a near-perfect rendition of Taps on his bugle…
