VA HOSPICE MEMORIAL SERVICE

For as long as anyone can remember, Tucson’s Post 10188 Honor Guard has assembled quarterly at the Tucson VA Hospice Center, to provide Military Honors at their Memorial Service which is held during February, May, August and November. The ceremony itself is, in a word, elegant: VA Chaplain John Zinck offers some remarks with hymn singing; then Father David Reinders offers some remarks which are then followed by reading of names. The service is concluded by the VFW Honor Guard providing Military Honors with a flag ceremony and remarks by VFW Chaplain Robert DiVarco. For the most part members of the audience were able to keep their composure during the entire proceedings … that is, until Gary Harlan performed a near-perfect rendition of Taps on his bugle…
