Summer is upon us and it is usually slow at the Post, but we haven't lost our momentum. District 1, President/Patriotic Art Chairman, Lee Huffman and Aux. President, Paula Fuller presented" Young American Creative Patriotic Art" certificates to students at San Luis High School on Thursday May 17,2007. We gave out $275.00 in awards for 1st, 2nd and two 3rd place participants and we had the privilege to explain to them what and why the VFW is about and what we do for our Veterans and our community. The information was well received and we hoped to get more participation this coming year. The helicopter landed on the back acreage at VFW 8242, Wed. Morning to checkout the "LZ" for their coming in Friday at 1400 hours to present us with a flag and certificate for it had been flown while in Iraq. We will be having a little party for the 20 to 25 soldiers that will be at the post. Hope you all enjoy the photos and hope to see you soon.
