AZ VFW Post Adopts the National Guard 301st MI BN and Assists Them

The Army National Guard 301st MI BN and their families were at Maricopa Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 720, 4853 E. Thomas Rd, Phoenix.  There were there for orientation on Tricare, dental, pay, employers, DOD, training, and the VFW Military Assistance Program, before they are deployed to Afghanistan in October 2007.  Post Commander Dominic “Nick” Tamillio, Ladies Auxiliary President Ruth Tamillio, and members served coffee, milk, and donuts in the morning and served lunch and pop in the afternoon to the 301st MI BN and their families.  They also set up a room in the post with a babysitter from the 301st MI BN to watch the children while their parents are busy.  The babysitter kept the children very busy with all kinds of games and a big screen TV.  The VFW and Auxiliary members handed out to the 301st NI BN and family members  for their children, safety tips , rulers, citizenship education worksheets, Pledge of Allegiance  coloring books, pencils, Just Say No to Alcohol and Drugs coloring books, Patriots Pen brochure, Voice of Democracy brochure and much more.  This all took place on August 18, 2007 9am-1pm.
